Innovation Chimie Carnot

I2C brings together 8 laboratories that have complementary skills and know-how in chemistry and whose basic research activities are aimed at strategic economic sectors in France and in Europe as varied as medical, cosmetics, agri-food, Energy and the environment.

The UMR-6014 COBRA has a strong expertise in synthetic chemistry (heterocyclic chemistry, fluorinated biomolecule synthesis, metal-mediated chemistry), bioorganic chemistry and analysis (mass spectrometry, NMR and modeling, theoretical chemistry and separative sciences ). The laboratory COBRA, coordinator of Labex SynOrg, develops fundamental research in strong interaction with the socio-economic environment (pharmaceutical industry, cosmetics, agri-food, ...).

EA 4358 Glyco-MEV carries out basic research in plant glycobiology while maintaining strong links with the industrial sector in the production of therapeutic proteins and the identification of new plant molecules for the agronomic and cosmetic industry. Glyco-MEV is a center of excellence in plant glycobiology and one of the largest centers of its kind in Europe.

The UMR-6270 PBS federates many skills around polymers and their interactions with the living. PBS's scientific objectives are to develop macromolecular chemistry strategies, coupled or not with physical, physico-chemical and biological approaches, for the development of innovative polymers and the evaluation of their functions and integration into different systems including biological systems .

The EA 3233 SMS is recognized for its expertise in the crystallization of organic and pharmaceutical molecules (chiral discrimination and resolution, deramémisation, broad polymorphic analysis, solvates and desolvation, characterization of macroscopic crystal defects and ultra purification) And chromatography (stationary phase design and analysis methods of complex mixtures).

The UMR-6507 LCMT has a recognized expertise in chemical synthesis (heterochemistry, organometallic and organic catalysis, green chemistry, polymers and composites) in analysis (mass spectrometry, NMR, separative sciences) and in the physicochemistry of polymers (thermal analysis, Mechanical, rheological and functional).

The CERMN is a research unit oriented towards the design of new ligands of biological interest with the aim of developing new therapeutic and / or diagnostic active principles. Current research axes are in oncology and neuroscience with scientific addressing polypharmacology and protein-protein interactions. On the other hand, CERMN has today the most important academic chemistry library in France (more than 17,000 compounds).

The UMR 6301-ISTCT LDM-PET team is specialized in the development of radiopharmaceuticals for clinical and pre-clinical imaging by Positron Emission Tomography (PET), conducting fundamental and finalized research in A multidisciplinary field combining: - chemical synthesis of bioactive molecules and precursors of marking, - radiochemistry with short-period positron emitters (carbon-11, fluor-18 and gallium-68), - automated production on synthesis module - In vivo evaluation by PET imaging in small animals of developed radiotracers (pharmacokinetics, metabolism, biodistribution, specificity)

The EA 3221 URCOM has an activity profile divided between organic synthesis (heterocyclic chemistry, methodology, catalysis, extraction) and physicochemistry of polymers, particularly natural polymers (polysaccharides, interfaces and formulation). The laboratory has a recognized expertise in chemical, physicochemical and sensory analysis. All these laboratories were very well evaluated by HCERES in 2015.

The various establishments belonging to these eight laboratories (Universities of Rouen, Caen and Le Havre, INSA-Rouen and ENSICAEN) are members of the Normandy University University which will carry this Carnot Institute project. Most of these laboratories belong to the INC3M federation (FR CNRS 3138 - Normand Molecular, Macromolecular and Medicinal Institute) and the regional network CRUNCH (Normand University Center for Chemistry), which for many years has enabled strong and lasting partnerships between these different entities (Thesis funding, post-docs and equipment).

The Normande de Chimie doctoral school (EDNC) is also an important structuring element that strengthens the research and training links between these 8 laboratories. The various platforms C2IOrgA, PISARRO, Cycéron radiochemistry laboratories, PFMI Cosmetomic, CNRT UMS3318, chemical library platform and screening and drugability of the CERMN ......, placed at the disposal of this institute Carnot would offer a park of equipment of the first plan. Most of its platforms are already associated with a quality approach aiming at a continuous improvement of their functioning (some are certified ISO 9001 to 2008 and NF-X-50-900).

The thematic complementarity of these 8 laboratories enabled the identification of three clusters of competences in Chemistry: Synthesis, Analysis and Formulation which, assembled within a Carnot institute, would offer a unique expertise and know-how at national level and To innovate in the pharmaceutical, agri-food, cosmetics, energy and environmental sectors.

The excellence of the research carried out within these laboratories and the strong interactions developed with the socio-economic world led from 2011 to the labeling of three LABEXs: SYNORG, EMC3 and IRON. These laboratories have developed an important industrial partnership network with international companies, large French groups, and many SMEs / TPEs, which has resulted, among other things, in the setting up of 4 joint laboratories. Moreover, the valorisation of the research carried out in these laboratories allowed the creation of 10 start-ups in the fields of chemistry, biotechnology and cosmetics.
